2 stroke Exhausts

We worked with a customer to develop and build prototype exhausts in multiple materials (cold-rolled steel, stainless steel, and titanium) for a high performance 2 stroke engine similar to the Suter V4. It started with a set of “cone pipes” built from cones rolled in a slip roll and TIG welded. We then built multiple designs and many sets of pipes using “poor-man’s hydroforming” with a pressure washer. The results were significantly improved performance and much smoother and a more producible design. The image below shows both exhausts from the hydroformed process. Each pipe is made from 3 separate hydroforms – header, mid-pipe, expansion chamber.
